I was stabbed with the Astra felt rough from about 12 hours later to 30 hours.
mine was on a Friday so I managed to milk it for sympathy all weekend though.

I've had the first jab and just had an achy arm the day after. Could barely feel the needle. This was the Moderna one.

i had the Astra. jabs 2nd one 10 days ago. no side effects from either. ( apart from the 6 fingers on myleft hand ).

i can't even play a 4 string guitar. my musical abilities on a 1 - 10 scale rank -10. music teacher at school (many moons ago) said I'd never have any musical talent as long as I had hole in my arse. (but I can fart a passable version of Smoke on the Water).

My surgery phoned me up today to make an appointment for my 2nd jab. I couldn't do it this week (I'm in Nottinghamshire, surgery in S.Wales) so I'm booked in for Thursday next week. I'm on the Astra one. I wonder if the micro chip has a digital readout like my old Astra GTE had ?

My mate had a red GTE. I remember two things about it, 1. it always had electrical problems and 2. that digital display! It was like Knight Rider - very advanced for the time.

Mine was red, apart from the spoiler which had faded to Vauxhall pink. I liked the dash. A real talking point with the girls at the time :) I remember seeing 127mph on it once. Ah, those were the says. Only problem was when one of the lamps went behind the display and you couldn't see a thing.

I’ve had both jabs (Pfizer) a while back (work in care home). Don’t know of any of the staff have had a reaction, some had the Oxford one.

The only reaction, is the skill or lack of it of the person administering the injection itself. First one didn’t feel a thing, second one, I think he thought he was playing darts!

What about the other posh one, the Kitten. People always forget that one.

Grab your sparkly outfits, pour yourself a fruity cocktail and get those singing voices into practice.......

Tonight on BBC4 at 8pm is the first part of this years Eurovision Song Contest, with the second part on Thursday and the final on Saturday night.

Many of last years cancelled contestants are returning, albeit with different songs, so they’ve had time to practice. And not all will be performing live in Rotterdam- backup recorded performances have already been filmed in case of COVID infections.

Love it or hate it, it’s one of those annual events that doesn’t get involved with too much politics.... yes, the scoring can be a little biased, and you can never understand how the top 5 or so can be so far ahead of everyone else..... or you question why Australia can be in it....

Never mind the questions..... just enjoy the show!

i'd rather be installing a sewage pump.

i'll leave that to the experts (wet-pants). ex being a has-been and a spert being a drip under pressure.

I'm sure there are battery eliminates for the 15v battery. If it's the same one as the Avo 8.

Mind you I've had several pints and a couple of cocktails so I may not be the voice of reason.

I can recommend Jolly collier porter. Very smooth.

Thanks all for your suggestions. The one you linked to Tel is a square battery, for the earlier Avo, mine needs the cylindrical one, but i see that ebay seller has them too. I try to buy from battery specialists as they have fresh stock, and I've had mixed results with ebay items. However, all my usual shops are out of stock so i'll give that seller a try. The battery is very cheap though...

the square one I put in my AVO has been in for 3 years, no problems.

Good to know, Tel...thanks! Mine is the squared-off cylindrical version with 2 sticky-out terminals. I have ordered one and will report back!

Re. The Eurovision Song Contest.

pfffft last again!

well, not quite. As one of the big five, the UK get into the final automatically and don’t need to enter a semifinal.... we came 26th out of 39....

for anyone thinking why do we bother?
England hasn’t won the World Cup football since ‘66, but they keep on entering that.

I was stopped last nite by Plod and breathalysed when I'd only had a pint earlier on. "81" he sez. "that's a fail"..........

" turn the bugger the right way up then , you plonker.it's 18. a pass."

The U.K. music/TV industry has no great desire to win Eurovision, and even less since Brexit, all the other nations know it - and here's why....

Money. What a lot of people don't know is that it's the tradition that the winning country then get to host the next year, and hosting means just that - ALL the costs. And these are huge, I mean genuinely eye watering sums not only in the logistics/travel/publicity but all the technical production as well. Bizarrely, it's far cheaper unit per unit for lesser countries to host due to lower costs and overheads than it is for the larger ones. Some time back, Ireland won it twice in a row and had to refuse to enter a third time in case they won it again and they literally couldn't afford it.

There's now also a double whammy because since brexit, artists can't just drop into the UK anymore (nor vice-versa can I into Europe ?) to perform without needing a work visa and the bureaucracy and costs behind it - and frankly that's just an embarrasment.

The bottom line being the BBC can't afford it, the government would get minced under-writing it, the British music industry has no interest in making otherwise obscure overseas artists look good, so instead we need to remember that it's just a little bit of TV to make mockery of.

Out of all the entrant to Eurovision, I think UK has the best chance of hosting it.
As a Big Five, we contribute financially anyway, hence getting the automatic final.

The dodgy voting has been going on well before Brexit was a thing. Was one of the reasons Terry Wogan stepped down as commentator.
Greece and Cyprus always give each other the 12..... always.

Ireland won 3 years on the trot.... 90, 91 and 92 I think.

Uk last won in ‘97 and I think we’ve been top ten only a handful of times since.

To lose is one thing..... to lose with absolutely zero points stinks of prearranged vote rigging.

Well done though to Italy, another Big Five.
The band reminds me a bit of The Darkness.
Better than Finland’s other rocky entry that sounded more like Linken Park.

Update: Ordered the correct battery from the supplier @telectrix suggested. very good service, arrived promptly and is the correct item. It's labelled as "Ample" and a quick google search suggests they are into EV battery swapping...
anyway, tomorrow will see me cleaning up the corroded terminals and installing the batteries and, hopefully, restoring the AVO to working condition.
It'll then sit on my display shelf beside the hand-cranked Megger and other items, but i expect it will also be fully functioning. Hate seeing such stuff going to landfill! What I love about the AVO is the replaceable fuse in case you make a mistake, and the fact that spares are carried on-board...useful, unless your face has been blown off!
Restoring the leather carrying case is a job for another day...maybe I'll ask the Repair Shop lady to work her magic on it!
Just a tiny foot-note...thanks to all you contributors on here, it has made life in lockdown so much better for me, and I bet it has done the same for many more...
