Just a tiny foot-note...thanks to all you contributors on here, it has made life in lockdown so much better for me, and I bet it has done the same for many more...
Yeah, it's a helpful group:

Can't ask in the Arms, so I will ask on here, do any of you have a cordless lawnmower, opinions on make and model please, only a small patch of grass about 150m2 at the front of our place on the other side of the Road that we like to keep tidy, need to carry/bump it down steps to the place of use, recommendations please.

I have made my recommendations to the OH, who does the gardening, but as usual it has fallen on deaf ears, my option says a powered drive model and walk it up the driveway and then down the lane to the grass, but then like most husbands until someone else says so we are ignored.

Re my previous posts about the AVO meter, I spent a while cleaning it, especially the battery connectors, then installed the new batteries...sadly, it doesn't work. Whenever I select any "on" position the needle goes FSD. Oh well, it still looks nice on my display shelf...but if anyone has any suggestions to fix it, I'd be very happy to hear them!

I’ve just seen this Mike. We have a similar sized bit of grass at the new house and plumped for this Worx model mainly because I had a lot of Nectar points to spend but also because it got a Best Buy from the BBC gardening magazine/website.

I’ve only used it a couple of times but I can say it’s very light, cuts pretty well and the batteries last long enough to do the grass in one go if you’re not cutting through a thick thatch. There’s not enough juice to mow the lawn then use the strimmer, but bigger batteries are available.

let us know how it performs.

Thunderstorms last night, lots of rain and our rainwater harvester that ran out yesterday is now full that's fifty gallons off 25% of the roof area, have not ventured any further into the garden to see how the Greenhouse rainwater harvester tanks got on.

Interesting that auto correct underlined off, above, but gave no alternative.

Spurs fans,
This Sunday from 10am - 6pm there's a Covid vaccination event taking place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for people aged 18 and over. So get yourselves down there, and you'll finally see some shots going in...

I’m not a football fan, but I thought, with all the coverage I may as well watch the Scotland/ England game….

Boring? I don’t know… there was chances, chances missed….

but…. Nil nil means a win to Scotland at the moment…. They still have a chance

and England DIDN’T win…. Which is a bonus, ?

I flicked over to Eurosport... where there was some Submarine racing ! Far more entertaining I thought.

It is a bonus.

If England win the group - then they would face France, Portugal, or Germany in the next round.

That would mean defeat for certain as even the worst of them is far far better then England!

But if they go through as second they face the group winners of Group E - which is a much easier route.

So England putting in the worst performance of recent times - Poor playing or good planning?

It is just me or does anyone else think its a bad idea to fly in hundreds of footballers into the same place, the Olympics would be thousands of people from all over the world, Covid has not been eradicated yet, I know life has to go on, but taking some precautions and not flouting the distancing protocol does seem to have gone by the by.

The fact that apparently lots of 'VIPs' will be allowed in for the Euros final at Wembley shows while poor sods of 80 are being fed rubbish in a quarantine hotel and paying for the privilege shows the priority of things in modern society (? just to keep it 'light')

Well, we expect another delay after these Scottish fans come home carrying the delta variant from London. No doubt there would have been English fans travelled down from areas with the variant.

The importance of football in this country is totally out of proportion, it's a sad fact that most think it is OK to let 1500 FIFA officials into the country without any checks or restrictions, I wonder at what point I will be able to say "I knew there would be another spike"

Already happened in Scotland, the results show a large proportion of positive tests among men - predominantly those returning from travelling to watch Scotland in the euros (not just foreign travel, but also travelling/being in the crowds within Scotland itself).

The female numbers remain at pre-euro levels

(Probably due to the girls discussing clothes washing techniques @OnlQQker eh?)

Posting for a friend…

What’s the first thing you do when you buy a new car? Yes…. You let someone drive into the back of you…

My neighbour just picked up a new Volvo from the dealership and was heading home.

Clown behind him didn’t see him slowing for the 30.

Final score… Volvo 1, Clown car nil.

The phone call to insurance went like this;

“how many miles?”
“90”
“90 thousand?”
“No… 90”

As well as a dash cam, the Volvo has a rear cam as well… video on YouTube somewhere.
Looks like driver had head down reading a text…
Police will have an easy time prosecuting with video proof.

Too many idiots with their heads down looking at phones these days. Passed one on the A1 yesterday - I'd say more than 50% of the time his eyes were looking down. Scary.
