Hello,

Suppose we have two split Air conditioners or freeze/refrigerator compressors. First works with AC and second works with DC.
Which one has a longer life?
What are the pros and cons of compressor work with AC vs DC?

Thank you

Depends on a lot of factors to be honest, the motors been a key part and how they are controlled, back in the day everything was over engineered to last but nowadays we see a slippery slide into mass manufacturing and cheap controls so a difficult question to answer especially as we don't really bring people in to service anything now until it fails.

First of all, I do not understand the compressor, but for the motor I hope the next message can be helpful to you, generally speaking, AC motor life is longer, DC motor is generally said brush motor, brush motor carbon brush is vulnerable parts, AC motor asynchronous induction motor has a low price and standard specifications can be used, if you need to speed, A frequency converter can be used. pmsm requires a motor controller to complete the start and speed regulation work, can be AC or DC power supply, with higher efficiency, power factor and power density, but the cost is also the highest.
