Electric bike switch getting warm

I've fitted an in-line switch between the battery and the electric motor on my diy electric bike conversion. I've also fitted an in-line fuse but have noticed the switch is getting warm after a few miles. It's rated 10 amp but I cant find anything higher rated as an in-line switch. What can I do?

Sounds like the current is greater than 10A and you probably need a relay.

Thanks for that. It's rated 35amp with a 25amp fuse fitted.Can you give me the info on the relay and where to buy it.

You should be able to get one from a car spares shop.
One that is suitable for fog or auxiliary driving lamps would do.
