hi thanks again for the replysi have some 4 core 10mm swa that i was going to use would i still need to run a seperate 10mm earth into there aswell ? or can i use a spare core ? i also have already bought the metal clad db is this ok to use still with a imported pme system ? and the garage/unit has a water supply via a plastic supply from the house mdpe ? blue pipe then 1 meter of copper with a tap on the end :confused:

Are you Part P ? - you do realise this work is notifiable and has to be fully tested, the results and inspections of which need to be recorded on BS7671 forms or equivalent.

I don't think it's best to use a metal clad db. If you get any earthing problems or future upgrades of the structure, you may find you'll have to TT the structure and therefore it would be against regs to use a metal one.
Shouldn't need to bond the water with plastic incoming. But this is notifiable work.

What reg are you thinking of there or are you just talking about the possibility of the 'new' TT being connected to the original CU and the need to de-link them?

So as I have the 4 core cable in stock is best bet run in a 10m2 earth seprate back to the main earthing term of the and bond the roofing girders which are over 3meters Above. it would be no problem to install as the ducting has been laid back to the house and stick with plan a and use the armourings as a earth as well as a spare core to my metal cald db and protect the whole installtion with rccbo at the origin and use the pme type earthing system the older guys at my place can't answer my qs hoping you guys can sorry to be a pain in the you know what

I think he's looking at 531.4.1 but I don't see it applying in this situation.

Agree:)

James i would use your metal clad CU - it offers some mechanical protection and put an rcd in that, then in the event of a test or trip it can be reset more easily, the SWA does not require protection - mind i have said that earlier!

If the steel is just in the roof 10 feet away from everything i don't think that needs bonding either.
