Kitchen extension ,usual works, adding a section on.
Thing is with the building works,it shows how poor the existing electrics are.
Ring main nailed, just taped up in middle of wall where a cupboard was, still working, lights taped at recess lights.
Would you advise the client, other areas in the house could be like these.
Obviously where these are I will make good, should I just scare the shi.. out of the client.
I reckon suggest a Eicr.

Show customer what you have unearthed during your pricing, if he doesn't respond, or asks you to ignore, it's your neck on the line.

Nothing surprises me these days.

Working on a house with a plethora or issues ....... so a partial rewire of the sockets required plus checking the lighting circuits.......

Upstairs lighting - all nice new shiny brown and blue ......... hum no earth continuity ........... locate feed - 1960's grey cable --- why, why, why would you go to the bother of rewiring a lighting circuit but not do it properly.
