Evening chaps,

I picked up a second hand fluke tester a year or so back, just as a spare to my main tester mainly. As such i'v never bothering calibrating it. It's always been in the back of my mind that it could have been nicked as I wouldn't really know any different.

Anyway my conscience has finally got the better of me, so my question is who might I be able to check with if it's been registered as stolen? Would a calibration service flag it up. Naturally I don't want to be in trouble for handling stolen good, but if it stolen then it's not mine and it will need to be returned.

Thanks in advance

Hi mate, It's worth checking with Fluke UK whether your tester has been logged with them as lost or stolen. They may even be able to supply the details of the person who originally registered the unit and any repair/calibration history known to them... Data Protection Act not withstanding.

You will need the unique 8 digit serial number of the tester, this is often found printed on a label in the battery compartment and also on the original kit documentation, however the unscrupulous may have destroyed this thinking the tester becomes untraceable, but they would be wrong as the serial number is stored in non-volatile memory.

For Fluke 1653 and 1654 you turn the unit ON, whilst pressing the MEMORY button, then letting go of the ON button, the units 8 digit serial number will be displayed ... Primary display shows first four digits, the secondary display shows the second four digits.

Fluke 1651 and 1652 don’t have a MEMORY button, but I believe holding the ZERO, F2, F3 and F4 has the same effect.
