Hi All

Quoting for installing some outside lighting, need to install six lights on concrete fence post. My plan is to run a swa cable which will be eventually under block paving and tee of at each position a light is required. What I would like to know is has any one had any experience with weather proof T units like the hylec range rather than using glands and junction boxes.

On another note just been called out to a job, where they have tried to change a socket and managed to blow the main fuse. Whats best advice in this situation or do you tell them to ring their supplier.

Cheers

Make off your tees above ground. then if moisture does get in, it's fixable without digging up the nice paving. IP65 boxes and gel fill.

Cheers

Blew the main fuse changing a socket??? Is the RFC protected by a no.8 screw?

I'd just tell them to call the DNO. Usually out pretty sharpish.

Old fuse board, with isolater switch with an trip between meter and board, kept trying to reset the trip without isolating the fault then sparks from cut out. When I got there no socket front on, cables to short from what i could see. Extended cables replaced socket and carried out a quick IR and got them to ring the DNO.

Back in my council days. One of the other trades (forget which) need electricity but there was no credit on meter. So he linked out the meter...did it completely wrong whole thing went bang in his face when he plugged fuse back in.
