Hi all

If you are a electrician, what do you require to grade up to a approved electrician. I am based in Scotland and noticed on the sectt website that you have to do a distant learning course. Would carrying out the initial verification electrical course be adequate to be able to grade up to approved electrician. I am self employed also ? Any info will be much appreciated ?

If you Google JIB grading definitions you should find the answer..
Generally you need
-NVQ level 3 ( full course not 6 week job which includes experience)
-AM2
-Full test and inspection qualification 2391-52, or 2395+2396 or old 2391.

Also the NET Advanced Assessment of Competence (AAC) also I believe this might mean you don't need the 2 years at electrician grade.

SELECT Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations • SQA [SELECT] Customised Award in Inspection and Testing, including Periodic Inspection

When did you do your apprentieship thats a factor on how you go about it.

Ive just passed the ACA and will be re graded once the sjib go back to working in the office.

The distance learning was 10 nights at college during the apprenticeship i never done that. If you have an inspection amd testing qualification such as 2391, select 214 etc. You will be eligible after completing amd statment of work experience. You cam get them from sjib.
They will get back to you with a date for the ACA.
