Hi guys. I have a question out of curiosity if anyone can help.

I'm looking to change over halogen downlights to LED gu10 lamp holders.

Is it just a case of removing old transformers and connecting to new lamp holder and earthing?

Any advice would be great

Pretty much as you have described.
You should be checking the earth to make sure it is actually connected.

basically, yes. make sure the earth is continuous throughout. if the LED downlights don't require an earth, then park them on a terminal block. all connections should be enclosed, either with click connectors or similar, or wagoboxes. ( unless the new lights come with a suitable enclosure. I use these out of choice :

you can't change the bulbs. they are an integrated unit.

if the old downlights are in good condition then you can reuse them buy just switching out the lamp holders and doing away with the transformer.
you can buy gu10 holders

then fit Fit your Led lamp

Many thanks for you replies guys. The lamp holder has the earth slot on the side so will connect it to that. Perhaps will need the sleeve for the earth
