Directors was a special occasion drink for me because it was more expensive - but agreed, was a better pint. Have had Directors recently, seems they have resurrected it. Not quite sure if it's exactly the same as it used to be, but still a good pint.

I left the aforementioned bar when I was 20 and to be honest none of us really knew how to keep real ale (As I remember we had the casks vertically!?) We sold Best and Directors for the same price which could explain why we sold more Directors. Unfortunately I couldn't get the badge before they ripped the pumps out.

Hmmm, real ale, now that really is an interest of mine. Like you I was drinking bitters and IPAs when all my mates were drinking Hooch and Reef - they called me an old man, I called them women! Never been much of a standard lager enthusiast, put I do enjoy some of the imported Euro pilsners and I love Weisbiers and wheatbeers like Leffe etc.

I used to have a couple of specialist drinks shops so got well into all that lot as well as wine and spirits.... never saw any point in stopping after I got rid of the shops!
