Home Study Courses.......... any good?

Hi All!

I need to get my 2391 and 17th edition , TBH i don't have a great deal of time to go to college in the evenings, so I'm thinking about home study courses.

I only qualified about a year ago, and still have a lot of books etc.

Have many of you done them? If so did they work?


Any info on this would be much appreciated.

fair enough for the 17th edition, but how could you do home study for the 2391?

you need time on the meter, and you would then need to find a centre that would let you just sit the practicals and theory exam

tbh you learn alot more in class than home study. Im in the same boat as you, but I will be going to college to do both. Its only 10 evenings for each course so not to much effort

i will do some searches for the 17th home study, get that out the way then look at doing the 2391 at college i think.

too be honest, they are lumping in stuff thats free anyway (Part P for example)

Its up to you, but what the arrangements for sitting the exam? Do you havve to find a centre that will let you sit exam only, or do they book you in

We provide the facility for forum members, but there is still a fee

Had one student travell down to Cardiff from Kent to sit the exam, he could find nothing closer

You pays your money you takes your choice

As fas as i know they just sell you the pack and thats it, they dont book any courses or anything! I will contact a couple of local colleges to find out.

i am just pointing out that some people struggle to find somewhere to let them sit the exam

I have sat my 17th by reading previous exam papers and just looking up the answers to them in the BS 7671 2008 and on site guide book 2008 ... as the exam papers are multi choice answers it is just a matter of finding the correct answers in the book !! the exam and course was only one day and cost £175 but i only did the updated version with 30 questions in it as I had passed the 16th since 2001 which was all the equirements were ....
