Hi all,

Not sure if anyone can help, but I was wondering how often do shepherd huts need a condition report?

I have spoken to the hut supplier and they have provided me with report and specified that it needs to be done every 5 years. However, the electrician I use for other works and stated this needs to be done every year. I may be wrong but I believe a shepherds hut is classed as a caravan.

Any support would be gratefully received.

Many, many years ago...my uncle had a tiny estate in the Scottish highlands...
He got a huge electricity bill and decided to investigate as he hadn't been in the estate house for some months...
We trekked into the hills to the shepherds' bothy in the midst of Winter...
When we got there, we saw dozens of sheep clustered around the bothy, all within 2 feet of the walls where the grass was green...
Yup, on entering the bothy it was clear that the Baby Belling stove had been left on by someone quite a while ago...

Sounds like that stately home I’m working in. I got into the “flagpole attic” obviously the one that accesses the flagpole.
Anyway… I notice a little red light in the dark…
It a was an old heater. Lying on its back under a water tank.

I’m sure there’s more efficient anti frost systems, and I’m sure it doesn’t need to be on in the middle of May.

Fortunate that the fire brigade hadn't been in ahead of you.
