Humidistat extractor fan

Hi I have been asked to install a Humidistat extractor fan in a domestic kitchen are they any good or am I better just having an on off switch?

Have you installed one before? Does the customer actually understand how it will operate?

Yes years ago but I never went back to the job. The reason that the customer wants it is because the tenant is drying clothes in the house and this is causing mould in the rooms, so this is why he has asked for a humidistat fan but I don't know how effective they are and it might come on during the night was my thoughts.

Yes possibly, but my experience is that they can be tricky to set up - so a few visits to get right!

They can be troublesome as the sensor gets bits of muck in and it gets damp , in a very damp environment ,,

Agree with above. I think positive input ventilation is better for landlords suffering damp. But even then the tenants can go in the loft and isolate
