I don't envy you guys as I specialise in repair and maintenance some customers dont understand why I won't go near kitchen and rewires but I have had a couple get back to me to say I don't blame you the poor spark got a hell of a time from the builder or kitchen fitter.I even got hassle from a kitchen fitter because the spark walked off the job and I refused to pull him out the hole he was in.

I think you have to be VERY firm, but professional, with all the trades. For some reason there seems to be a perception that we'll all fall over ourselves in a battle to the lowest quote and that if we don't instantly comply with demands then we'll be replaced. I've had a plumber (who has no other work on and is a right old shambles) trying it on with me this week....so I told the builder I'd happily leave him to it...builder all but begged me to stay and I've written a polite letter to the end customer setting a few things right.

Would have come in slightly under your quote, but matters not as its no way near that cheap price.
It happens. But it's a job not worth worrying about at that price

I just did some very quick sums and it came out around the £2000 mark too.

DITTO - Am up north though, would expect at least £300+ more for London
