Discuss Immersion heater question in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

A

ample current

I have been to a rented flat and the tennant very rarely uses the immersion (last time was a year ago). He said he swithched it on one night and it didnt work (economy 7 so only comes on at night , no daytime overide for some reason) I went in thinking either element or thermostat/thermal cut out, to discover the breaker was in the off position. I dont know if it had tripped or was swithched off accidently. I checked the resistance of the element and it was very high as in 1000 ohms, would this reading mean that the element is about to give up the ghost?

Thanks in advance
