I'm building a pergola and I'm going to install a 6kw, dual element quartz heater. My home's main panel is 110' from the heater and I'll be installing 10AWG 2-conductor wire to a combination double switch. However, there are no combination double switches made that can accept 10AWG wire and will fit in a standard j-box. If you were doing this project, would you just jumper from the 10AWG to 12AWG? Or would you not use a combination double switch, opting instead for two single-pole switches that can accept 10AWG wire?

Thanks for your help.

Go to Lowe’s or Home Depot and buy you a 30 amp disconnect like electricians use for HVAC units. Leave your wire size the same size. It’s rated for outdoor use and 240 vac
