Hi gents

Whilst I am qualified as an electrician I am a maintenance engineer so don't do much installation work hence seeking advice here.
I recently installed a new 3ph distribution board for a new machine. As I don't have my testing and inspection ticket another person did the minor works for it.
As part of that inspection he pulled it up because the second layer of insulation on the supply swa wasn't stripped back to the cable entry into the board. It was only stripped back about 300mm. He put this down as not complying to the regulations but I have never heard this before.
As I said I don't do much install work so thought I'd check. I can't find anything about it in the regs so wondered if anyone had experienced this
cheers

A load of nonsense, and if they have issued a minor works cert for installing a new DB they clearly don't have a clue about the regulations!

The bedding of the cable can extend as far inside the enclosure as you wish, I will often do this to keep things neat when the gland is far away from the point of termination.
