We have a convenience store with a 16 camera CCTV system fitted. Most of the cameras are internal but we have three outdoor cameras. They do have IR night vision but it is limited to about 20 metres. I have been advised by an online retailer to fit IR illuminator floodlights like these here Buy CCTV IR Illuminators - DTS Digital - https://www.dtsdigitalcctv.co.uk/Infrared-Illuminator.asp
I wanted to know if they genuinely increase the cameras night time range or will it just be a waste of money? They are not cheap so would I be better off just buying new external cameras and paying someone to swap the old ones over (may need new cables though as well.)

Thanks for the responses, I need 40 metres night vision range to view down a passage at the rear of the shop. That camera by Xvision is an IP camera and my system is coaxial cables so that wouldn't be an option. They are HD cameras so quite good quality images. Just wondered if anyone had experience of using IR lamps.?

I have used the IR floods with cameras for some different applications and CCTV work fine to there range make sure you buy to identify range not detection range !
