Hi folks,

Well I have been working as a electrician, with a mate of mine in South Wales. Well I took an interest, in what he did, then he taught me the ropes of domestic installing.
He became ill, not soill he couldn't come to work, just that he couldn't climb ladders, etc. So I did most of the work, and got it signed off on his ticket.

Now for personel reasons, my partner and I have moved to Lancs. I attained my Part "P", when we have a bit more money, will be taking my 17th (updated) course next year. This was recomended, by my course tutor.

Now comes my question, accredatation, which one? One of my course tutors said that where I live, the local Council, use Napit. Which one should I approach?

ANy recomendations as to how to get started.

Im with elecsa and they seem more helpful than the niceic, all about the same price and councils can not specify any specific scheme provider, they all do the same thing,we pay them a fee and they notify for us,they all charge the same sort of fee to sign up,niceic is the most recognised though.

off to a local scheme 2moro, to try and get some funding, for elecsa, and insurance!, thanks

napit have the highest entrance requirements (2391) - or give you some time to acquire it.

I hear there's a new one thats come out called STROMA and may be cheaper than all the others.

johnh10000 they don't add anything to your working routine, they are middle men that cream off 300-900 quid a year to say you are "registered"

It doesnt make you a better electrician, so just remember that when various schemes are 'selling' themselves. They don' t actually do anything constructive, thats the electricians job.

One day there will be a similar scheme like there is for Gas, like "electrisafe" and no one will be able to buy a consumer unit except a registered sparky

Yes the electrisafe type card would be good if we could get 100,000 sparks in this country to sign an online petition it would HAVE to be considered in the commons,so we best all get recruiting new members lol, last count i think 33,000 on here.
