I have only ever seen them installed in kids treatment areas in hospitals and the like. Oh and one hair salon.
I don't think they looked too awful in those situations.
 
Have installed a two similar banks of nine, both in a call center type office - big open plan.

The general consensus was, initially great then pretty soon after meh.

They are not a nuisance and still function as lights but the novelty wears off PDQ.

I think the ones I put in were 6000K or some similar daft level of brightfulness.
