Hi All,

This is a long shot but I have a business opportunity that has found its way into my lap so to speak.

Long story short while S/E with my own little contracting company I was approached by someone wanting me to subby to him a day here and there to do lightning inspections for him. Just a visual and testing the earth rods. This is a venture he is trying to get off the ground. Anyway this was 12 months ago and since then I have go back to full time employment as a contracts manager, while my contracting company plods along with 1-2 guys working for it.

Now the problem is that the lightning thing seems to be picking up, maybe 4-5 jobs a month at the moment and this guy is hopeful it will pick up. But my 2 guys working for my company as tied up and its not feasible for me to use the labour from my full time job as the costs are too high.

So I am wondering if any one here (ideally north west based) has any experience of lightning testing and would be willing to do it on a dayrate for me for the time being?

Thanks

cant help mate, but what exactly does a lighting inspection involve? What is the Max Ra of the rods? ive heard 10 ohms max banded around?

a little tip if your quoting for it or something. The lightning protection regs say every 12 months, but where i used to work we did it every 11 months so that over a period of 12 years, the rods had been tested in all sorts of weather/ground conditions.
