Well....10 months ago I did a full rewire on a house that had just been brought, but the new owner had not moved in until the rewire was finished... So I finished and all tested out fine of course..

Then couple of days after the customer rings me saying "my lights are dimming slightly for a few seconds" and this happens a couple of times a night. I said that you need to contact the DNO and they will do some tests on your incoming supply. He looked at me funny and was sure it must have been because of something I had done as I had just retired the house. So I offered to retest the lighting circuits... Of course there was nothing wrong, but I thought this would put the customers mind at rest..

Now 10 months on and the customer rang me today saying "DNO have done there tests and the voltage is within tolerance peaking at 251v & dropping to 242v...

I called DNO today after my call from customer and spoke to the exact person who performed these tests on the customers house, he said to me he had told the customer that although the voltages are within the tolerances the 10v's or so that it dips will show in house lamps and you will see it dim from time to time

The customer is having none of it and is now ringing up my scheme provider!! Unbelievable

I would ask the bloke at the DNO to put what he said to you in writing please. And then set up a rheostat with voltages 10% apart and show the customer that the difference will be discernible.

TBH, given that we know you're in the clear (if you can get that in writing, of course) then it'll be interesting to see what your scheme decides to do with the call....my guess is nothing.

Already spoke to scheme technical department, they've said they won't do anything and just tell them what I've already told them, that its down to supply voltages...
