Been doing a conversion of a house into 3 flats, the dno has been paid and they sent someone out to look at existing service head, now they tell me they can't upgrade the existing head to a 3 phase head and put it in the same location ( obviously with a new supply cable from road) as it goes against the "CDM", are they talking crap and don't want to bend down to fit it or are they right

Regards

Chris

Nobody want to offer an opinion

You'll probably need to be patient and wait for a member here, that works for a DNO company to comment!!!

I would imagine it depends on if a suitable 3 phase supply is readily available. Not sure what CDW stands for, so can't comment if it goes against some sort of in-house rules....

We really need more information mate. Which heath and safety issue or clause of the CDM:2007 did the DNO official say would be infringed and have you received confirmation of this in writing from the senior area engineer? Have the works at this site exceeded 30 days or 500 man/days?
You need to tell us more about the existing location of the head if we are to give you any advice about how to proceed, as we are not psychic.

Sorry guys not being vague, but that's all the engineer said to me, unfortunately I wasn't on site at the time, all he said was that they couldn't utilise the existing location due to CDM, So I don't know what he was actually talking about, there is approx 1,5 m square of space once they remove the existing service head, so space is not an issue

Very much so. Especially as I now have to re route all my cables and joint most of them, something I hate doing when it's a rewire
