Discuss meggar 1552 pat testing in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hi does any one else know anything about turning my megger 1552 into a pat tester by using a kewtech pat adaptor? Or should I buy a pat tester?
forget this....
this is something that kewtech have got going...with their `pat adaptors`.....so explain this one then:
how are you supposed to tension the flex`s CPC & equipment earth?
this is how you will prove continuity.....by shoving some amps down it...see if it holds
thats why pat testers weigh a ton

Agree with AMPD

However it is only useful if you are doing a small amount of PAT testing because it is slower than plug in and push button testers.
You are only doing a continuity check and an IR, the adapter just joins L+N together for you and makes the connections easier. You can't do the high current test.

[FONT=&amp]The Kewtech Pat adaptor may be sufficient to get you started (I have one in my tool kit) if you are only testing a small number of items, beyond that it becomes a real pain and is much easier with a dedicated PAT.
Because the adaptor relies on an MFT to drive it, when doing the earth bond test you are limited to the output of the MFT on it's low resistance ranges, approximately 200mA. That is not ideal for testing Class 1 equipment where a hard test at a maximum of 26A is more appropriate, but it still complies with the Code of Practice and is similar to most of the battery driven hand-held PATs on the market.
