Hi people,

I'm having a brain fart moment. What is the minimum distance between enclosures, with doors that are facing each other?

In EN60204-1:2006+A1:2009 section 11.5 said " In the case where such parts are present on both sides on the access way, the clear width shall be at least 1.5 m."
In EN60204-1:2018 section 11.5 has removed the dimensions for between cabinets. Not sure why.

Ok, so the only dimensions I can find now between enclosures are in BS7671 section 729. Operating And maintenance Gangways. Which says 700mm.

So, my question is, am I missing something? Is there any other reg I'm missed, or are we just going with a distance of 700mm now?

700mm doesn't seem right.
Is that with a panel either side or just a gangway with a panel at the end?

Maybe there have been revised studies done on the how bodies behave / fall when thrown out of a panel after an electric shock
The original rule of thumb for access space to a panel used to be far enough so that if you are thrown (blown) away from the panel you wouldn't hit a surface behind you and bounce back into it, now incapacitated.
With a panel either side it would need to be more to stop you being thrown into an open panel behind you.
1.5mtr would seem to be the minimum regardless of any regs.

I agree, but they have taken that distance from EN60204. Not sure why they have taken this from the reg.
Now looking for some reg that states a distance and all I can find is in BS7671, which states 700mm.
My boss was asking as they are shifting some cabinets on a site. No one can find a distance other than the 700mm. (We are not going that close)
