Hi Guys,

I hope somebody has an answer or a recommendation for another system.

I’ve had a Nest heat link and . As you may know there have been issues with the 2nd gen thermostat. I’ve been in touch with google support but my unit was 2 years 3 months old so no warranty replacement available. The thermostat has stopped connecting to the heat link via WiFi ( I’ve read it might be a software issue). I have to say Google support were useless. My heat link still works and the 2nd gen unit still connects to it via Bluetooth but I no longer have a WiFi connection via Alexa etc. I have lost faith in Google Nest. My question. Is there another thermostat that would connect to the heat link via WiFi or do I need to replace both units to have a workable WiFi system? Any recommendations? I don’t want to try a 3rd gen or nest e- thermostat unless there are no other options. What’s my best way forward? Thanks Alex

So, most issues with wifi are due to the security settings not being the same or the wifi settings on the router not being correct.
try turn off the 5Ghz setting on the router.

James, thank you so much for taking the trouble to reply. I believe your suggestion was something Google Nest attempted when I contacted them. I’ve since read a software update was behind the original issue. I think it stopped the unit connecting to the internet. Many others have suffered from the same problem. Nest replaced those within the two year warranty period but mine was 3 months outside. I can’t update the software because the unit doesn’t have WiFi connection. Catch 22. I’m peeved with Google Nest and would prefer another thermostat. I am reluctant to spend another £200 for another Google Nest thermostat. I hope someone can offer another solution. Kind regards Alex
