Hi everyone, I’ve been registered on here for a few years but never really used the site, thought I’d say hi! Interested in working abroad if anyone has any thoughts, specifically the Middle East.

I’m not sure really, I’m an approved spark with 20+ years experience in the uk, usual stuff, LV installation, maintenance, controls, not really sure where my experience would best place me, a lot of the things I’m looking at on line seem to be degree level so I guess I’m looking for a foot in the door somewhere?

well I believe NICEIC are already operating in the UAE and soon to be in other countries in the gulf and setting up a scam there. so you could look at the facilities management companies operating in the UAE etc and then on there websites or email them. most of these countries follow BS7671 as the basis of there own regs so relatively easy to get straight to work. Its also tax free!

we use the word scam to indicate one of the schemes that think of themselves as quasi regulators of the electrical industry.
NICEIC, Elecsa 9same certsure HQ) Napit, Stroma etc....
we say scam to refer to the niceic scheme - especially the part p domestic scheme as they charge quite a bit to join and make it seem like unless you are a member then you aren't qualified, competent etc...

i am sure others will have other thoughts on what a scam is!
