Discuss New Seals? in the Industrial Electricians' Talk area at ElectriciansForums.net

I think you will find that SOME DNO's will accept registered sparks to remove seals and fuses providing they are resealed with similar.

SSE do.

Really? Thats interesting to know I will look into this further. :)

Many are now providing Isolators for free but you still have to wait for the change over. So still a time delay. :(

Changed a Consumer unit recently . When I dismantled the cupboard around the old one the METER fell apart. I rang the supplier immediately to let them know. Got a bo11ocking at first but explained what had happened within 24 hours bloke out with new meter and saying as soon as I've changed the board call them and they'll renew the new seals that I cut while the bloke was still there! It seems if ther's evidence of work going on then a seal interference is ok ( I don't mean small furry sea mammals!)

As has already been said, only SOME DNO's will 'allow' a registered sparks to cut and reseal. SSE being one, however, i have built up a relationship with most of the guys so they are happy.

However, i believe that if you come across red plastic seals then you should contact them before you cut.

These are used when there has been evidence of tampering at the installation in the past.

Again, contact the DNO.

For all they know, they werent sealed when you turned up;)

Anyways, have a read of this:
