doing a eicr today and the apartment im at, along with all the others, has no main fuse. there is a big service head, possibly containing individual phase fuses, but I've not opened it up.
from there you have single 25mm tails going in to each meter for each apartment, then in to an isolator switch, then swa feeding the cu in the apartment.

am I missing something?

cheers adie

Isolator switch, or fuse switch?

That big service head is likely to be a multi service cutout containing 10 or more individual fuses.

Of course you haven't opened it, you're not allowed to open service heads or any other DNO equipment and you shouldn't have any need to do so.

The problem you have is not what is in the DNO equipment, but the fact that you don't have any protection on the consumers side of the meter for the distribution circuit.

Did you take a pic.

no pics I'm afraid, could always get one tomorrow.
dave ,if this is the case then happy days, it would be nice to see what is protecting the 20M run of swa though.

It's not happy days because there is no fuse for the distribution circuit.

Does the large cutout look anything like this or a similar variation?

There are a few different designs out there and they are/were used for small blocks of flats.

I can see I've worded my reply poorly. happy days that there is probably a main fuse at least, but still cant see anything for the swa circuit.

yup, couldn't see it head on but I'd say very similar

I wonder why they make them 10 way not 9 or 12 ?
