New build houses, full system boilers with the big cylinders with seperate thermal cut out and temperature probe which come with a pre fitted link connecting them.
Have been told to remove this link and feed the main live feed for the whole system through it (after the fused switch spur) so if the safety temperature on the tank cuts out all power to the boiler sysem and controls is cut.
Was told its new safety rules - anyone else had this?
(still have the extra valve safety for a fully pressurised system as well as the 3 port)

It seems overkill to me but not entirely unreadable as it does make it more obvious that a fault has occurred.

What does seem daft to me is installing an unvented cylinder with a 3 port valve. Yes it has the additional 2 port val e fit safety but you’d defeats any advantage of fitting a Y plan system.

I haven't seen new builds done for a long time in Y plan, the heating is generally split into two zones on the smaller builds so all S Plan.

What is the need of having a 3 port valve in this setup? Surely 2 2 port valves would be better and more economical?

Is there still a cut out in line with the cylinder stat that operates the 2 port safety valve?
Only wired one Y plan with this system 25 years ago. who has told you to wire these this way?

I think I would contact the manufacturer of the system before making any changes to their wiring.
It may be that there are new safety rules that require this, or it may just be someone in the office thinks it’s a good idea.
