my father in law has requested some quotes for Solar PV on one of his south facing barns. 2 companies have quoted

27.5 kW at £30 k and a 21 kW at £27.5 k. One are specifying Ben Q and Power One the other REC Solar PE with SMA inverters

my question is are these about right cost wise and what do you think of the plant ? I have no knowledge on PV so what else should we be looking for within quote with regards to specification and quoted % returns and output of panels in real world scenario

Prices look about right assuming the 21kW is for the BenQ modules which are quite a bit more expensive than REC. Unless you are struggling for roof space, there is arguably little value in installing these higher efficiency modules such as BenQ, Panasonic or Sunpower.

Both are recommending quality manufacturers.

As always - I recommend getting a quote from a local installer who posts on this forum rather than asking their professional opinion to verify competitiors quotations and make a sale for them
