Discuss Outdoor Consumer Unit in the DIY Electrical Advice area at ElectriciansForums.net

Advice for a diyer doing a small job. Maybe like for like swap or a spurred socket. No problem.

As soon as design, cable calcs and testing are needed then its no longer a small diy job. The advice dries up for safety reasons.

One spark giving advice to another spark no problem, but we won’t do cable calcs for each other even as a spark should be able to do these themselves.

Can't see why you want 3 CUs. An outdoor socket does not require an outdoor CU. Even a shed does not require its own CU. Run the cable in from a spare way on the house CU direct to the sockets and the lights via a switched FCU.

Thanks, I was only installing an outdoor CU (Ip65) as had been advised by sparky (called for quote) that's what he'd need to do so there was a point of isolation between house CU and shed.
This is why I was asking on here for advice, so thanks for your input, unlike some of the others on here.

I wish I never bothered even asking now
