I am looking at installing an outdoor security camera combined with a floodlight on my garage wall and just wanted some advice before installation.

The light comes with a mounting plate which attaches to a circular junction box. Am I able to run some cable with one end wired to the junction box and the other to a plug and then plug it in to a switched socket inside the garage?
