Thinking about membership with one off the Domestic installer schemes, half remember reading somewhere that an insurance scheme is required for the actual jobs (not PI or PL) could anybody confirm or deny this.

Cheers

You can get this before joining a scheme but it isnt a ness as you can supply the info after assessment that way if you do fail (hope not) you dont waist any money.
Regards
Tony.
P.S. NICEIC insurance number is 0845 601 2376 you can contact them for a quote or your chosen scheme provider.

I think the insurance you are asking about is the scheme providers 'insurance backed gaurantee' that they all must provide.

This ensures that your work has been done to Part P and 7671.

You, as a member, are not allowed to sell it direct to the client, but you are supposed to hand them an info sheet, which has contact details for the insurers, and they can decide if they want it or not, at their cost and no cost to you.
