Hi There,
I'm after a bit of advice.
In April I had a periodic inspection carried out on my property.
We are now hopefully due to rent this property. However, now we've passed the 1st July 2020 the lettings agent is requiring a EICR to be carried out. My question is, does the previous periodic inspection still stand or does an EICR need to be carried out and the previous periodic inspection null and void. Nothing has been changed in the house electrically since before the last inspection.
thanks in advance.

I would say the existing EICR would still be valid if the recommended date of next inspection is still valid.

The Legislation asks for a valid satisfactory EICR with no C1. C2.
If that's what you have you're O.K

If the Agent is suggesting otherwise here's the relevant info from U.K Gov;

The 18th edition of the Wiring Regulations came into effect in 2019, so if a landlord already has a report for a property that was carried out after this date and has complied with all the other requirements of the Regulations, they won’t have to have another inspection for 5 years, provided the report does not state that the next inspection should take place sooner.

The periodic inspection should have resulted in you being issued with an EICR in April, you don't need to have this done again until the date specified on that EICR.

If you were given a periodic inspection report (PIR) in April then you have been given a very out of date form, this have not been used for quite a few years now.
