Hey folks.

currently work shifts as an industrial JIB spark in the steel industry, I get a lot of time off. I currently sub out to a mate on my days off on domestic stuff for a bit of extra bucks.

Ive done a few domestic bits and bobs myself for a builder but I’d like to start going at it properly myself, self employed whilst keeping my PAYE job here. Time is never a problem really, so I’d like to start picking up some more. Ive got everything the NICEIC needs, in fact I started the ball rolling a few months back, just never saw it through due to me breaking my leg, but will pick that back up no problem.

Just wondering if anyone had any tips on picking up some local work to keep me busy should my mates work die off or I decide to go at it alone. I understand this is probably the “big question”, but I’m sure some of you can point me in the right direction to getting my feet off the ground by myself :)

I’m an approved JIB spark with Compex, Ive worked in all the sectors in my time as, so have a broad knowledge of all.

thanks folks.

Get in the EV Charger game, easy enough to get olev approval speak to the charger manufacturers and go from there. its a sector that is only going to get bigger. you will have to do the one day niceic 'course' or the city and guilds.

Good thing with those jobs is that you can book them in a few weeks ahead so can plan the diary really well.

Hi Gavin.

Is the NICEIC course suitable to get OLEV registration? The reason I ask is that there is a course coming up about an hour and a half from here, but it is the NICEIC course. I can't find anywhere in the country running the C&G course unfortunately so would have to travel to England to do it.

Hi Gavin,
thanks for the reply.
Ive been in touch with the NICEIC now and going to get the ball back rolling for the DI Scheme and ill venture down this avenue, there seems to be quite the market for it. Especially where I live (Swansea), there really aren't many people doing it. Would be nice to establish a name in that niche before the market goes boom.
Thanks for the advice bud.
