There's lots on the market some great and some terrible.
Some cheap and good
Some more expensive and terrible (square D I'm looking at you)
Which is your preferred mains board?
I'm a wylex person myself.

Don't do much domestic but just fitted a BG fully populated board from B and Q. Fantastic. Mainly fitted Dorman Smith on site, with a few Merlin thrown in for good measure. Dorman slowly sorting out some of their terminal configuration issues due to feedback, i.e. neutral block obscured by live conductors once terminated.

Lot's of snobbery out there regarding domestic boards. My opinion is that they all meet BS standards, it's up to the installer to make the best of it. B and Q doing BG boards for £50 all in can't be beaten, and they are really good. Some people saying terminals are not so good, not my experience. Perhaps not try doing them up with an impact driver?

Well due to the recommendations on this site I took the plunge to fit a shower RDC CU at a great cost £27 I checked it out and was very impressed with the build quality only problem was the RCD would only trip if you pushed the test button twice plus it would not so returned to supplier with RCD in hand and mentioned that I could not strip out the whole CU so as they did not have another shower CU they gave me a separate RCD and the although they were meant to be the same you could see the separate unit had a better build quality.

O and by the way it worked no probs

Don't think you can beat the new style wylex/crabtree mcb's/rcbo's, far better quality then MK in my book. Favourite DB to fit would be a merlin but usually ends up being a wylex.
From my domestic testing point of view I like the room in mk's however the placcy ones tend to get painted and papered into the wall hence a pain to get the cover off.
Personally If I were fitting domestic boards it would be wylex
