Hello Guys,

When quoting for a rewire or large job I usually quote on a per point basis. I usually charge £40 - 45 per point for a furnished occupied house (depending on how much stuff there is to move around) £35 for a un - furnished house and £25 for a new build. This is labour only and in the centre of London usually. I seem to be losing out on a few, and just wondered if I am too expensive?

Cheers as always.

Tom

That is roughly what I would quote including materials, but as we all know its all different north of Watford.

i dont touch occupied rewires.
for house bashing:
20 quid per point
150 for a CU+bonding
some extra for patching chases

yeah i know I`m cheap, its busy here too lots of cowboys lurking around :(

I don't quote per point, for me it's: time the job will take + materials I'll use + travel/parking (if applicable) = Job price.

I price it this way using a rough guide of £20 per hour, perhaps £25, usually it takes me 2 hours per point in a furnished house, 1.5 hours in an unfurnished and 1 hour on a new build, for me it takes the "how many days will it take me" out of the equation, and is a much easier way of pricing. If it is a small job and easy to know how many days it takes, then I will price on a day rate.

I don't price anything per hour, I work in half day multiples. My reason for this is nothing takes less than half a day (travel time, collecting bits, paperwork etc). So I have a minimum charge of half a day.

I'm not saying any other methods are bad or incorrect BTW, just that this way works well for me. On the odd occasion a customer questions it I explain and most are OK. Those that aren't I politely (or not if applicable!) decline the work.
