Have only recently gotten in to testing. Doing an R1+R2 on a lighting circuit but instead of producing a result my tester clicks over and over again. Any advice please? Thank you.

Are you getting good r1r2 results on other circuits?

What tester is it? Is it on the right setting?

Have you got the right circuit linked out?

Is your tester fully charged?

Bone questions I know, but worth checking first.

Check the circuit is dead first.
use a multimeter to see if you have indeed got the right cables and you do have some continuity between live and earth.

My megger sits there clicking and flashing a reverse polarity when doing continuity tests but it still shows the results fine.

Not confused a tester with a clock have you? (as others have said... :)

My Kewtech kt64dl will click over and over like that when there is some continuity, but it's a little out of range (eg, a little over 1999 ohms)
