Hello everyone,

I've recently had to replace (for a second time) a Corroded Strip Light Jointing Clip - see attached photos.

Both times the LED strip had stopped working because of this. It's located in the interior, in a (theoretically) dry spot.

I'm a little worried about this happening again - and about any security issues.

Because of this I am considering soldering the connection between LED strip and Driver.

What do you think?

Any tips?

Many thanks!

there must be dampness getting in from somewhere?

Is it a cold room? near an open window? bathroom or kitchen?

Is the tape itself showing signs of corrosion?

It's in the top corner of a room - both external walls and roof. It's our office, so not constantly heated.

To be honest, apart from this corroding, I haven't been able to see any other signs dampness around - and it would show as we have a yellow MDF cladding.

The rest of the tape is also fine - although it's housed in a diffuser strip, so better protected.

I was even considering putting a damp-trap next to it, but it seems almost a bit comical to do this.. I'd much rather have a permanent and proper solution to this..

Any thoughts?

Many thanks!

The metal looks like its been overheating... but these tapes dont generate a lot of heat themselves. Is there a good spring connection when the tape is pushed on?

Could this connector be somehow housed in an IP rated enclosure? i know that sounds a bit comical as well though
