Hi guys - Looking for regs on how socket wiring should be routed. Cant see this in the Part P or any of the other building regs. docs. Anyone any pointers on the corresponding rules? Need some guidance on routing socket wiring vertically and also horizontally as need to use both methods.

wiring vertically or horizontally to and from sockets id within regs. also safe zones within 6" of wall corners and ceilings. see here:

the blue areas are safe, or prescribed zones for cables.

here:
522.6.202

from the 2015 yellow book regs. reg.no. may be slightly different now.

The easy-reading version is the IET Guidance Note 1: Selection & Erection
That covers quite a lot of such questions and also references back to the specific clauses in "big blue book" that is BS7671:2018 for each point on note. It is also cheaper at £38 versus £95 !

Or get the On Site Guide, which for those who only do occasional or basic installation work really tells them all they need to know..... without shelling out for, and then trawling through Bs7671, which is difficult to navigate for basic information.

even better at £20, or could find an earlier version for much less
