Hi All.

For a reason wich requires a long explanation I cut a bipolar wire connected to pressurizing pump with a pair of scissors.

I burn the pump capacitor, I changed it and it works.

But the wire supplying power doesnt supply anymore.

The wire goes into the wall of and old house and I cant find the source.

The question is this: When a shortcut like that happens is it possible that some other point on the wire gets affected? Or is it only the source and destination that suffer?

Thanks

There’s maybe another control, between the source and the load that may now need reset.

Many motors have start/stop controls, but also protection circuits.

You are going to injure yourself using scissors on live cables.
I am putting it down to translation that you meant pliers or cutters.

Scissors are only for paper or cloth

I really meant scissors. I know thats bad. They have rubber handle thou.

I think i wasnt clear enough.

The pump is ok.

I wonder about the cable. Is dead now.
That cable goes into the wall and cant find where it goes.
In the “main electrical pannel” of the house every thing its ok.

Its an old house. I will probably use another source for electrical supply.

I was just wondering if a shortcut cuould damage the wire at other point, besides the one where i cut it..

On the main panel. Has it been tested that power is coming from each breaker.
A “dead” short like that can damage the inner mechanism of a breaker.
It looks as though it switches on and off, but it can be broken inside… either cannot switch on, or worse… can not switch off

Scissors.

Maybe you shouldn’t go near it now and get an electrician to repair it.

Oh. I see.
Thanks for the answer.
Have a nice week.
