So I'm due to look at a storage heater tomorrow that is apparently running mega hot and unsafe to use. I have installed lots of these in the past on new builds but have little experience when it comes to maintaining them. Was hoping someone could give me a heads up on what I need to be doing ? Is it likely I need to replace the thermostat ?
It is a dimplex if that makes a difference.
cheers !

All down to how hot is hot.....Storage heats are design with a safety cut out. Which is a reliable bi metal switch, any danger of overheating, due to a faulty thermostat, or covering air flow with clothing. Will cut all power to the element until reset. So thermostat maybe faulty, but certainly not reaching dangerous temps..

Only ever had complaints that they ain't throwing out enough heat, could be the input stat that is faulty.

Unless the overheat cutout itself has failed short.

Take a bit of flex and a plug with you so that you can warm it up if you need to.

There is various controls on different models, some have a couple of series wired button stats and a bi metal adjustable stat some have a return air stat with a capiliary and bulb which is house at the top and the bulb underneath, a 1/4 drive socket set and/or dumpy drivers and a magnetic small phillips, the whole fronrt comes off
