I do both my own work and sometimes subbie work for bigger companies, now i have a couple of lads working with me i sometimes find my self in position to be supplying labour to these bigger companies, but especially at the moment i am unsure how much i can charge to these companies without being either pricey or cheap.
For example under cis4 i would generally be looking to pay a spark around £140-150 a day 7.30-4.30
But asking around lately i've heard companies getting agency sparks for £13.50hr and on one site the other week i met sparks working for £12.00ph for 8 hrs.
I was just wondering what kind of rates people were getting etc, and what rates people were chargeing when suppling a gang labour only.
for those who say £20-25 i think that is unrealistic for just suppling subbies , that would be the rates i would look at if it was my own contract.
cheers for any help

Hi There,

This all depends on the work you have at the time,

I run my own business and find it difficult to charge £150 per day which has always been the going rate.

I find the agency's a problem at charging electricians at £12.50, how can they make it pay with fuel and tool usage,

In times where us electricians have no work and need to pay the bills I can see us working for what we can get.

Thanks

Not defending the hourly rate but just be aware that if you are paid through an Umbrella company that you can claim your expenses against the tax (although you must still be paid the minimum wage so you can't circumvent all the tax).
