Discuss supervisor in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hey Bon.

1. If you are an employee of a company then you would need to get that company to put you forward to NICEIC/ECA as qualified supervisor. NIC/ECA would then inspect your qualifications to make sure you meet their requirements and add you to the list of Q.S for that company. You could then add this to your jib card.

2. If it's your company then you need the company to join the jib first which can be a nightmare to be honest as you are then bound by their T+C's which are nonsense IMO. Obviously if you are already a member of NIC or ECA you will already be registered as a QS, ad jib will put this on your card, no problem without any other inspection needed.

hope this helps:D

i was wondering how do i go about getting my supervisor certificate i have seen various jib cards with this on do i need to go on a course ?

I am a bit confused, what supervisor certificate are you talking about?

Are you talking about the QS for signing off NICEIC certificates?

If you are then you have to be employed by the company to carry this work out as it is not a qualification in it's own right, to be a QS you need to have 2391-01 Inspection & Testing before NICEIC will let you become one.

hi ian
i did not know if you needed to have passed a test in order to have a jib card with supervisor on it i have seen many over my years as a spark and wanted to try and get out of the manual side of sparking and do more in the desk type of work
if you look at lennies reply all will become clear i think
