Hi.. Newby here.. I have a couple lights holders/bulbs on the end of a flex plugged into the mains 13Amp plug. I want to put an inline switch on the cable so I don’t have to unplug/plug all the time.. WHat kind of switch do I need & how to wire earth/live/neutral? Many thanks - Dino

You just need something like this:

I'm not recommending this exact product... just first one listed.
You can also get larger push button switches that are foot operated.

Is the flex 2 or 3 core? Does the fitting need an earth, or is it just live and neutral?

If they're like a lead lamp I'd do as suggested above. If they're permanent fixtures (ie they stay in place and are never moved) just put a proper switch on and do away with the plug top. As for wiring, live goes in live neutral goes in neutral earth goes in earth.

I would recommend getting a torpedo switch that has terminals for all three wires (particularly if your lamp has an earth wire).
Some only have two terminals, and if there's an earth wire, using those you need skill in preparing the cable, as you have to take off the insulation (for the right length), leave the earth wire intact not cutting it, and then cut and strip the L and N to the right lengths. It's tricky to get exactly the right length on everything for it to fit neatly together with the cord grips working properly.

If you get something like this, you don't have such hassle:
