Signed up on a few free advertising websites this morning, already had people offering to optimise my website ti make me top electrical contractor on google and I've been chosen to be the only electrical contractor in a community focus website lol.

Good job I read this forum or else I could have just parted with thousands for nothing.

It gets worse, I remember having a ridiculous number of calls after posting free ads. Then they send you reminders when you drop off the top..... So it can start all over again???

Thanks but, NO THANKS:thumbsup

Have a look back at some of my posts for SEO advice.

If your get your website designed properly in the first place you will never have to bother with directories of free websites yes you have to pay a few bucks extra but those few extra bucks are worth their weight in gold as it were.

I know this may sound crazy but type in electrician and then choose a random town or city which is 100 miles away form you, for me that would be "Electrician Manchester" take the top result which is not a advert and look for the link to the company that designed their website and go to them to have yours designed.

Firstly they can produce results that is why the website you found was top on the results and secondly they already have experience in designing a website for a electrician.

When you put a advert in Yell or Thompson you will get bombarded with calls from design firms, SEO specialists etc ignore them all, my policy is if you want a service from someone then go and find it yourself do not wait for the vultures to come calling.
