The ultimate storage/carrying solution????

As per title, has anyone managed to get everything they need (excluding materials) into some sort of clever storage solution?
I have just ordered one of these:

To add to my growing collection of storage bins, carriers etc. I currently have 2 Veto Pro pac bags in the van, 1 Facom tote, 4 Tanos organisers, 3 Stanley Fatmax deep organisers and still always find I have left something at home. I tend to carry tv, data & satellite stuff in 2 of the Tanos organisers, first fix (screws, plugs etc) in another Tanos and 2nd fix (wagos, faceplate screws etc) in the forth Tanos.

I then have JB's, earth clamps, crimps etc in one of the Fatmax organisers, terminal strips, choc boxes etc in another Fatmax and assorted fuses, fuse wire, cable clips etc in the third Fatmax.

I also have a few bins in the back of the van with dustmasks, earplugs, shoe covers in them.

I bought the Tanos organisers as I use a couple of drills which came in Tanos systainers and have also over the last few months also put my circular saw, 110v SDS drill, 110v angle drill, 22 & 36v cordless drills into Tanos systainer cases and thought it would be great to just clip them together and carry them onto site in one go but I can hardly lift the bloody things.

What do you guys use?
 
I have a cheepo halfords open top tool box, it has a drawer underneath as well for the crimps etc. cost about 8 quid and its good to go :) can`t find it on their site anymore or i would post it. its similar

Systaniers for me, I just keep the bare minimum of different bits in my bits box, just stuff i'm using everyday red plugs, crimp lugs and through crimps in red, blue, yellow, grommets 20 25 blind and open, Orbix screws in three different sizes, plasterboard fixings, 3.5 extension lugs, 4mm screws, gutter bolts and a selection of wagos. I've streamlined it down to one box, very rarely do I have to visit the van for the slower moving stuff or if it's just too big and heavy for a box, the bigger the boxes you buy the more likely they will get filled with crap that just won't get used I've been there and done that :)

Eskimo Tanos do a heavy duty trolley if all your boxes weigh a bit.

spoke to these guys at elex they seem a good bunch, and they do a van racking system for systainers

Two old tea chests and a donkey are still good here, you can always earn a bit extra at weekend by giving donkey rides on the beach, can't travel to far to work because by the time you get there it's time to come home, also good for hauling up 200m. deep well pumps and pulling plumbers vans out of the sand.

You have far too much, when will it be for sale?:D
 
I have tried al sorts and I honestly think most, if not all are designed by blokes at a desk who have never ever used a hand tool in their life, It would take a tradesman to design a tool box,bag,tote for his trade only, most availabe are no more than expensive gimmicks at ridiculous prices the only tradesmen who have a good choice at reasonable costs are mechanics, I know I,v been there and still have all the tools I bought because they go back in the space made for them from an 2BA spanner to 10" stillsons, We who take our tools up attics down cellers, etc will never be able to take all we need first time so a case that carrys all our tools is immpossible and impracticle,

Very nice Phil, but i bet it costs more than my van. Whats wrong with carrier bags and cardboard boxes?.

I remember when i was on the aeroplanes, some of the lads spent 1000's on nice fancy Snap On toolboxes, i preferred to spend my money on tools, and get the tool box from Halfords. My reason was that i cant fix anything with a toolbox, but with spanners and screwdrivers I could.

Like I said these are probably fine for house bashing but absolutly pointless for checking old Mrs McGillacuddy's immerser up in the attic with 60 old years of lamp shades and rocking horses,

Personally, ....I prefer the Golden Virginia tins, ....just a tad more class to them!! lol!!

Seriously though, i think most of you must have more money than sense, looking at the prices of these storage and tool boxes etc that your all buying!!!

You get what you pay for, I always like to reinvest 20% of my yearly income on tools etc and try to buy the best I can afford. I train 4 times a week at my local gym so no time for drinking, never smoked either so I guess I save over £150 a week, this enables me to spend stupid amounts on tools etc ;)

Good to know that. I like the boxes, have a bunch of them and they all stack and fit on a sack truck, was thinking of racking the van next!:willy_nilly:

Have been looking on ebay for a while, most of it is ex AA, I sit and wait for the right one to come along with baited breath :pirate:
 
just got a load of l boxxes after spending 6 hours tidying up the back of my van
marked them up 1st fix 2nd fix etc should have done it years ago.
good impression from customers when you get the whole lot out.
the subterfuge will not last though.

not quite as good once on site though!

I have a couple of those stanley fatmax totes, a first fix and second fix one, that I can use to lug bits onto site
 
that one is the old one (but a 110v import one or something (in white))

but yeah, I have now got a DAB one:cool3:
 
I can take a photo of mine...... Nothing in it this week!!! and I mean NOTHING!!

I want a DAB Barry the painter has a solar DAB... nice bit of kit for about £70

I have had some horrible messes in the past, just after I ordered this van the previous one blew up, so the kids (4 and 8) helped me swap my stuff over to a 15 year old rusty transit...... you can imagine it I'm sure.... reels of cable being kicked 10metres across the yard and then the loose end thrown into the van, boxes of plates etc emptied into a pile:bigcry:

took me months to even find my tool bag......

I was determined to keep this van tidy from the word go, and if anything, it's a bit tidier than that in the back now!



does he not allow you near the radio because he listens to UCB christian radio too? :D
