just wondering are we trying the impossible.installing 2x300mm swa to a eaton 800amp panelboard, because of circumstances the swa enter the building underground in a 1m depth trench,,the dbs are approx 1m above ffl.A 75mm hole will be drilled into the bottom extension box & suitable gland fitted onto armour,we know its gonna be difficult in getting the swa bent then cabling tru hole, any tips? Ideally swa would have been positioned then terminated into panelboard any ideas ?We r starting connecting next week.

300mm is that all? Are your busbar connections directly above the cable entry? It might be easier, if possible, to lower the panel on to the cable if you have a few blokes to help you. If you can't it's just gonna be a *******. I would recommend stripping the sheathing off the cores to make it easier and taping them up to prevent chafing. Can you measure and cut it to just about the right length first? Don't cut it too short mind. Good luck

Im with BCM 1m you will never bend cables in that distance id make gland off strip inner sheath n retape it on then lower glandplate over gland n fix panel board You could try blocking panel board on a pallet lifter n lower it that way with some assistance
Good Luck

As johnboy says, there is a large minimum bending radius with this cable.

Reg. 522.8.3 gives guidance and an armour(copper and aluminium circular and circular stranded conductors) has to be multiplied by 6 and if the conductors are shaped then it's a multiplier of 8 to give you your minimum bending radius.

You really are going to struggle , is there no way you could feed them from the top ? , or prehaps prefab some trunking from the trench , gland them in the trench to the trunking and the feed them into panel board.
why 2x 2core?

cheers for all your answers,i dont think the bending radius is a prob, trench being 1m in depth then 1m to bottom of panelboard. No chance of lfting db onto cabling, acess limited & db too bulky. The swa are 2x300mm 4c,the trench is still open & this may b our saviour,at the beginning of the install a discussion took place on a bespoke connection point, then taking tri rated cabling to main switch, but others knew better, hopefully all will b fine,if we r in big trouble santa might give us a hand,ta

what we usually do is, mark and gland cable in the correct place, then pull a loop outside of the building causing the gland to lower to the floor, put cores through holes into box, then pull and push the loop so that the glands lift up, i work solely on caravan parks and this is how we always do it if we cant lower the box on.
